Magic: The Gathering has recently expanded its universe by crossing over with various franchises. Last year saw the release of the successful Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth and four Doctor Who-based decks. This year, fans enjoyed the Fallout release. The Universes Beyond initiative has successfully introduced creative cards and attracted new players to the game.
The latest addition to this crossover series is Universes Beyond: Assassin’s Creed, which is eagerly anticipated by fans of both Assassin’s Creed and Magic: The Gathering. Preview cards for the Assassin’s Creed set will be available until June 19, 2024, with new preview cards being revealed daily. However, as of June 20, 2024, a few cards are still waiting to be revealed, creating a bit of anticipation akin to a mistimed leap of faith in the Assassin’s Creed games. The Assassin’s Creed set introduces various cards based on characters and themes from the series, with each color in Magic representing different aspects of the Assassin’s Creed universe.
From the iconic white robes to legendary figures like Leonardo Da Vinci, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Eivor, and Evie Frye, the set reflects the diverse and dynamic nature of the Assassin’s Creed world. Additionally, the set includes multicolored cards to represent characters who transcend the boundaries of Magic’s individual colors, as well as colorless cards that emphasize the importance of artifacts in the Assassin’s Creed series. As the Assassin’s Creed set is relatively small, it does not include the usual Commander deck tie-ins found in previous releases. Instead, it features Starter Kits, which contain preconstructed decks with exclusive cards and redemption codes for Magic: The Gathering Arena.
These Starter Kits offer a new way for players to experience the Assassin’s Creed crossover within the Magic: The Gathering game.
