Mortal Kombat 1’s Peacemaker is set to join the game at the start of Season 4 on February 28 after a short delay. The game’s Kombat League counter was also extended by 23 days.
NetherRealm has been consistent in releasing new characters at the beginning of each new season, and Peacemaker’s arrival was delayed to coincide with the start of Season 4. With Peacemaker’s inclusion, Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack will be halfway complete, and there are still more fighters to come, such as Ermac, Homelander, and Takahashi Takeda.
Additionally, several Kameo fighters are also anticipated to be included in the game, including Ferra, Janet Cage, and Mavado. It’s expected these characters will be released mid-season.
The game’s reputation has been declining, and the community is expressing dissatisfaction, especially in comparison to the success of Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. Mortal Kombat 1 risks falling behind these titles, particularly Tekken 8, which has attracted a casual fan base.
The addition of Peacemaker and more substantial content may help improve the game’s fortunes, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to re-engage the player base.
