LittleBigPlanet 3’s servers are officially being taken offline “indefinitely”. This means that players will no longer have access to the millions of user-created levels that have been a huge part of the game’s appeal.
Since the first release on PS3, Sackboy has become one of the most beloved PlayStation characters, with games focusing on creation, sharing, adventure, and fun. LittleBigPlanet and Sackboy are huge parts of PlayStation’s history over the past two decades, but it looks like they’re both just going to become a fond memory.
Since January 2024, LittleBigPlanet 3’s servers have been offline due to technical issues, resulting in players being unable to play with friends or access user-created levels. Many fans had assumed that the issues would be fixed and that they’d have some warning before the game became inaccessible.
However, the decision has been made to keep the servers offline indefinitely. The Twitter account suggests that the servers may one day be switched back on, but it seems unlikely that LittleBigPlanet will make a comeback any time soon.
It’s a sad development for the community who have enjoyed creating and sharing levels in the game. The legacy of LittleBigPlanet will remain, but it’s a shame that the servers will no longer be available for players to enjoy.
