Dark Moon is getting remastered, and here’s everything you need to know about securing your copy early via Nintendo. 2024 is the year of remasters and remakes for the Nintendo Switch. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Monster Hunter Stories, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. It’s a quieter year for Nintendo, likely due to new console news, but remakes and remasters make it a great time to catch up on games you might have missed.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 was released on the Nintendo 3DS and didn’t even have a “two” in its name. Originally called Dark Moon, it’s being kept simple for the remaster. The remastered sequel is coming to Switch on June 27, 2024. It won’t have many, if any, added features compared to the original game, and will simply be a polished version of Dark Moon for the Switch.
Everything from the original, including its multiplayer options, will remain, allowing players to team up with other Luigis locally or online to clear the haunted houses of ghosts and ghouls. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be available to buy digitally and physically on the Nintendo eShop, as well as at Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. Amazon canceled pre-orders for several upcoming Switch games, so if you previously placed a pre-order through Amazon, you may want to check if that order is still in place. The retailers selling Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD have not announced any pre-order bonuses.
As it stands, there’s nothing big coming to Nintendo’s newest console post-Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD’s release, with the last big game from Nintendo confirmed to be released in 2024. Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Dark Moon are the same game, with the remaster featuring the same co-op options as the original, allowing players to play with others locally and online.
