The sequel to the popular roguelike deck-builder, Slay the Spire, was announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase. No gameplay was demonstrated in the cinematic trailer, but it is set to launch in Early Access in 2025.
Slay the Spire 2, a follow-up to the beloved roguelike deck-builder, has been unveiled at the Triple-i Initiative and is scheduled to debut in Early Access at some point in 2025. Over the past few years, there has been a surge in the roguelike deck-building genre, with the release of games like Monster Train, Card Quest, Dicey Dungeons, and others.
Monster Train, inspired by Slay The Spire, is considered by some to be superior in various aspects. Initially released in Early Access in 2017, Slay the Spire quickly gained popularity and became one of the most well-liked roguelike games in recent years.
Its acclaim was further solidified when it received rave reviews upon its full release in 2019. Developer MegaCrit had been relatively quiet following the full release of Slay the Spire, but it turns out they had something exciting in the works – Slay the Spire 2.
As revealed during the Triple-i Initiative, MegaCrit’s next game is Slay the Spire 2, presented with a brief yet stylish cinematic trailer. While the trailer didn’t offer much in terms of gameplay details, shared screenshots in a press release provide some insight into the game’s visuals and mechanics.
For instance, one screenshot depicts an encounter with a Symbiote that can be eliminated using fire by discarding a random card from the player’s deck, or approached at the cost of six health points.
