The Rogue Prince of Persia Isn’t Connected To The Other Games
Game Informer recently had the opportunity to preview The Rogue Prince of Persia and interview its developer, Evil Empire. During the discussion with art director Dylan Eurlings, Game Informer inquired about the connection between The Rogue Prince of Persia and the other games in the series. Eurlings disclosed that it is a “totally new story and new universe” that is not linked to previous installments.
Currently, there are few easter eggs or references to previous Prince of Persia games in The Rogue Prince, but game director Lucie Dewagnier mentioned that this may change during the game’s Early Access phase. When asked about the saturation of Prince of Persia content, particularly with the recent release of The Lost Crown, Dewagnier indicated that there is no such thing as “too much Prince of Persia.” While it is evident from Eurlings and Dewagnier that The Rogue Prince is not tied into the larger Prince of Persia universe, there are still some allusions to the rest of the series.
For example, in Game Informer’s gameplay footage, it was observed that the Prince still drinks water from a basin to restore his health, a direct nod to the Sands of Time trilogy.
