Yokoyama also mentioned that instead of solely transitioning to another game, exploring mediums such as the Yakuza TV series has been more advantageous.
The reluctance to have Kiryu fight characters like Heihachi or Ryu and the desire for gaming icons to have guest appearances has created a dynamic where Kiryu’s involvement in a fighting game seems unlikely. The sentiment is that it is not in the best interest of the series to have a Yakuza character like Kiryu in a fighting game. Therefore, hopes for Kiryu to be included in Tekken 8’s first wave of DLC are less likely to materialize, giving relief to those who were concerned about a potential Heihachi and Kiryu showdown.
