Masayoshi Yokoyama, a new producer, holds a different opinion compared to the team behind Yakuza/Like A Dragon. He believes that it would be more beneficial for Kiryu to go across different mediums rather than just appearing in another game. This perspective indicates that the character Kiryu may not be featured in a fighting game, addressing concerns about its impact on the series. Yokoyama also mentioned that instead of solely transitioning to another game, exploring mediums such as the Yakuza TV series has been more advantageous.
The reluctance to have Kiryu fight characters like Heihachi or Ryu and the desire for gaming icons to have guest appearances has created a dynamic where Kiryu’s involvement in a fighting game seems unlikely. The sentiment is that it is not in the best interest of the series to have a Yakuza character like Kiryu in a fighting game. Therefore, hopes for Kiryu to be included in Tekken 8’s first wave of DLC are less likely to materialize, giving relief to those who were concerned about a potential Heihachi and Kiryu showdown.
