Analyzing the New Stitch Lorcana Card Ahead of Full Season Launch

The reveal season for Ursula’s Return’s new Lorcana expansion has taken a different approach than in the past. Instead of regular daily card reveals over two months, Ravensburger opted for a condensed, concentrated approach. The desire for card reveals has been palpable among both professionals and the community.

During a recent live podcast, hosts Brandon and Jonti revealed Record Player, a new Amber item card, sparking much discussion. Record Player is a two-cost Amber item with two abilities: Look At This! and Hit Parade.

Look At This! allows players to reduce a chosen character’s Strength by -2 until the start of their next turn when they play a song, while Hit Parade makes Stitch cards count as having a +1 cost to sing songs. This opens up several potential use cases for the card, especially in decks focusing on the Amber/Steel combination, where it could help protect low Willpower characters.

The first ability has broader usage, providing semi-permanent, repeatable strength reduction triggered by actions players would already want to take. This could have synergies with other abilities related to character strength, showcasing its potential strategic value. However, the second ability, while intriguing, may not have much value with the current Stitch cards available.

The discussion around Record Player not only demonstrates a deep dive into a niche common item card but also reflects the anticipation for additional card reveals for the upcoming Lorcana expansion.
