How long to complete all Fallout games?

If you’ve just finished watching Fallout on Amazon Prime Video and are considering getting into the games, it can be challenging to know how much time it will take to immerse yourself in the series. Bethesda’s Fallout is a long-standing series with a wide variety of games that delve into new stories, mechanics, and settings within the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Whether you want to explore the lore in more depth, compare the show with the games, or simply try out a game, understanding the time commitment involved is crucial.

The first Fallout game was released in 1997, and since then, the series has expanded to include countless mods, spin-offs, sequels, and prequels. This has led to a total of five mainline Fallout games, including Fallout 76. The completion times for these games vary, with the later installments generally requiring more time to finish.

If you focus solely on the main story quests of the Fallout games, you can expect to spend around 130.5 hours. However, aiming for 100 percent completion across all the main Fallout games will require approximately 696 hours, largely due to the extensive content in Fallout 76. In addition to the mainline games, the Fallout series also includes spin-off games such as Fallout Shelter and Fallout: New Vegas, as well as classic ones with turn-based combat.

Considering the main content of these spin-offs adds an additional 136 hours to the overall time commitment. Furthermore, each Fallout game typically offers substantial DLC content, with up to four or five expansions per game. The DLC content, along with major expansion updates for Fallout 76, contributes significantly to the total time required.

Beating all DLC across Fallout: New Vegas and the three mainline games will take roughly 96.5 hours, while achieving 100 percent completion for all DLC content in the series will necessitate around 452.5 hours. When everything is tallied up, completing the core aspects of all the main games, spin-offs, and DLC in the Fallout series adds up to about 363 hours. However, reaching 100 percent completion across the entire series would be an overwhelming endeavor, requiring at least 1,553.5 hours.

Despite the seemingly manageable number of main games, the extensive DLC and extra side content ensure countless hours of gameplay.
