Dragon’s Dogma 2: Monster Hunter with Extra Steps

Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter seem to have a lot in common, with many features in the former stemming from the latter. Although the former game has its strong points, it has its fair share of flaws. In fact, if one were to remove these shortcomings, what remains is essentially Monster Hunter. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, considering that Monster Hunter is a well-regarded game.

In fact, there may even be aspects in which Dragon’s Dogma 2 surpasses Monster Hunter. Perhaps some fans of Dragon’s Dogma have yet to realize that what they truly desire is to play Monster Hunter. Both games involve intense battles with massive creatures, leading to epic showdowns with ancient dragons. Advancement in both games is linked to the process of hunting monsters and utilizing their parts to improve gear.

Additionally, the combat systems in both games share many similarities, with combat strategies being crucial in taking down formidable foes. The weapon classes also significantly influence the gameplay in both games. While Dragon’s Dogma 2 shines in its creature behavior and routines, its weak open-world RPG elements detract from the overall experience. Conversely, Monster Hunter’s focus is primarily on the combative aspect, and it could benefit from incorporating some of the naturalistic features of Dragon’s Dogma.

Although Dragon’s Dogma 2 does have its merits, much of its appeal can be attributed to Monster Hunter. There’s a possibility that the next Monster Hunter game may adopt some features from Dragon’s Dogma, particularly if it follows the open-world format. With that said, it’s worth considering that those who are not fully convinced of the similarities should give Monster Hunter another chance.
