The director of Mortal Kombat 1, Ed Boon, has provided a sneak peek at the upcoming character Homelander. However, there is still no speech from the character yet.
Although we do not see any gameplay, Boon does show Homelander engaged in pre-fight banter with Lui Kang. The banter appears one-sided as Homelander has yet to speak, leading to questions about actor Anthony Starr’s potential involvement.
Mortal Kombat 1 has been slowly releasing post-launch content, including characters like Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and most recently, Ermac. Ed Boon has reassured fans that there are more additions to come, and after the positive reception to Ermac, he gave a first look at Homelander.
The banter in the preview is unidirectional, with Lui Kang taunting Homelander, but the video cuts off before Homelander responds. Recent inquiries about the voice actor for Homelander have emerged, with fans hopeful that Anthony Starr would voice the character.
However, Starr confirmed that he will not play the character, and the reasons for this decision remain unclear. This lack of response from Homelander in the teaser may indicate a deliberate avoidance of the voice actor issue, or it could suggest that negotiations for the voice acting are still ongoing.
Regardless, the situation regarding Starr’s involvement will likely only become clear once proper Homelander gameplay is revealed, which might be soon based on Boon’s decision to show this initial look.
