A new Konami code has been discovered in Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness for the N64, allowing players to unlock all characters from the start. Castlevania fans have found this hidden code, which has been concealed for 25 years. By entering a modified version of the classic Konami code, players can access every character in the game without having to complete it.
Furthermore, additional codes were uncovered that unlock Hard mode, fill the inventory, and maximize weapon power. Konami, although not as prominent as it once was, had a long-standing legacy with the Konami code, a classic cheat input featured in many of the developer’s games during its prime. However, the publisher no longer incorporates this feature into their games.
Surprisingly, it was discovered recently that Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness has been harboring a hidden code for a quarter of a century, making it a definitive way to play the game. Initially unearthed by fans on the Castlevania 64 Discord server and shared by YouTuber JupiterClimb, the newly discovered code is a more complex version of the familiar Konami code where doubling the inputs of the original code grants access to all the characters, their alternate costumes, and a Hard mode right from the start. Additionally, more codes were found by Moises and LiquidCat and later shared by JupiterClimb in a YouTube video.
Players can use a code to completely fill their inventories with items, and there are also two region-specific codes that provide the maximum amount of jewels and max out the weapon’s power. This discovery is significant for Castlevania fans, as it addresses a long-standing issue in Legacy of Darkness where players were limited to a single character until they completed the game. With these new codes, players can now freely choose their character, potentially making Legacy of Darkness the best way to experience Castlevania on the N64.
It also serves as a reminder that even in older games, there is always the potential for new surprises to be uncovered.
