Rumours are swirling around that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is limited to 30fps on console. However, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim. Fans have been concerned for the past week that the much-anticipated sequel may have a 30fps cap on console. While the truth will only be known when the game is released in March, much of the “evidence” circulating is suspected to be fake, so the claim remains unproven.
Many fans are optimistic that the latest gameplay trailer from PlayStation’s State of Play showcase indicates that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will exceed 30fps. The showcased gameplay footage was captured on a PlayStation 5, and it appears to not be limited to 30fps. Admittedly, there are noticeable framerate drops at times, but they fall short of the rumors circulating online. The most recent gameplay trailer can be seen below.
If it accurately represents the game’s performance on the PS5 at launch, it will be noticeably smoother than 30fps. However, some combat sequences show dips when there’s a large enemy on screen or a lot happening simultaneously. Consequently, it may not be a completely stable experience, but it doesn’t appear to be locked at 30fps. As for its performance on PC, the recommended specs are available on the Steam page.
Several fans are worried because it currently only shows the specs for 1080p/30fps and 2160i/30fps. However, it doesn’t state that this is the maximum capability but simply indicates what is required to achieve that performance. Whether Capcom updates the information to specify what’s needed to comfortably reach 60fps remains to be seen. We’ll have to wait for updates from the company.
Fans are eagerly looking forward to the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 on March 22, twelve years after the first game in the series. The game will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
